Mayor's Winter Levee

Admission is Free
It's Family Day Weekend and the Fire Hall Museum and Education Centre will be open with extended hours until 2 pm on Saturday for the Mayor's Winter Levee being held next door at Cambridge City Hall and outdoors at Civic Square. The City will be celebrating with music, food trucks, and much more!

Talk to a Firefighter
Saturdays, April through October, 2025 Approximately 10 am to 11 am An on-duty crew and truck from the Cambridge Fire Department visits the Fire Hall Museum each Saturday morning, from April through October. See a working Fire Truck closeup. Talk to Firefighters about their careers. Visits are dependent upon emergency responses in the community and they may have to leave in a hurry to respond to a call! Presented in partnership with the Cambridge Fire Department. |

Since the first European settlers arrived at the confluence of Mill Creek and the Grand River, fire has been a constant threat to a growing community.
To mark Emergency Preparedness Week, the Fire Hall Museum & Education Centre highlights the major fires in the 1800s, 1900s and early 2000s in Galt that impacted the Cambridge downtown that we have today.
Visit the Cambridge Public Library Old Post Office to see a photo exhibit showing some of these fires - on exhibit from Tuesday, April 28 to Monday, May 12. Take a Jane's Walk guided tour along Main Street to Civic Square to see the sites of these fires and how the streetscapes have changed. The Cambridge Fire Department will be at Civic Square at Cambridge City Hall with equipment and displays to show how the city is prepared to deal with emergencies today.
Flames of Change is made possible with a 2025 Community Grant from the City of Cambridge. Thank you!

The Celebration of the Arts showcases local artists and their visual, literary and performing arts talent with multiple stages and displays in and around City Hall, Civic Square, the Cambridge Arts Centre, and the Fire Hall Museum.

Every Place, A Story - Architectural Discovery Tour
Saturday, July 12 and Saturday, July 19, 2025 10 am and 11 am Admission is Free - Registration Not Required Architect Frederick Mellish would be proud to know that the Fire Hall he designed in 1898 for the Town of Galt lives on today as the Fire Hall Museum & Education Centre. Join the Museum's volunteers for an Architectural Tour of the Fire Hall, hearing stories of the building's past and seeing spaces that are normally not open to the public. Learn about other buildings designed by Mellish in Cambridge and Vancouver. Hear about the Fire Hall's history, architectural style and how the building evolved over the years to accommodate changes in firefighting technology and the growing community. The Fire Hall Museum & Education Centre is pleased to participate in Every Place, A Story - Historic Places Days, hosted across Canada by the National Trust for Canada. Note that the second floor of the museum has limited access. |

And while you're Downtown - stop by the Fire Hall Museum - just one block from Main Street. We're open Saturday mornings from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Try on a coat or a helmet ... it makes for a great selfie!

Cambridge Fire Department Open House
Station 1 - 1625 Bishop Street North Saturday, September 13, 2025 10 am to 2 pm Admission is Free Cambridge Fire Department holds its annual Open House at Station 1 - Fire Department Headquarters. Family fun with lots of activities including tours of fire trucks, a fire safety house, live sprinkler burn, and the chance to talk with firefighters. Watch for signs for parking! |
